GharKhata — Privacy Policy

✓The short version

Your ledger lives on your phone. We (LucidLabs) do not run a server that reads it.
You have no account — we never ask for your name, email, or phone number.
Family Sync is optional. If you turn it on, your data is stored so other family members with your code can see it.
The app shows ads (Google AdMob), which use an advertising ID.
You can wipe everything anytime by clearing the app's data or uninstalling.

GharKhata (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a household-ledger app published by LucidLabs. This policy explains what the app does with information when you use it. Plain language, no legalese where we can help it.

1Data stored on your device

Everything you enter — vendors (milk, tiffin, newspaper…), staff attendance and salary, expenses, recurring bills, and settings — is saved locally on your phone using the device's own storage. By default it never leaves your device.

We do not have a copy of this data and cannot see it.

2Family Sync (optional)

If you choose to turn on Family Sync, the app creates a short code (for example K7P2M9QX). Your ledger is then stored on a hosted database (Supabase) so that anyone who enters the same code on another phone sees the same data. This lets a household share one ledger across phones.

Important: Family Sync has no password or login. Anyone who has your code can read and change that ledger. Share the code only with your own family. If you want to stop sharing, use “Remove code” in Settings — the app disconnects and future changes stay on your device only.

What is synced

Only the ledger data described in Section 1 (vendors, staff, expenses, recurring bills). No personal identifiers are attached, because the app never collects any.

Where it is stored

On Supabase, a database hosting service, transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. See Supabase's privacy terms at supabase.com/privacy.

3Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. To show ads, Google's advertising SDK may collect and use a device advertising ID and related information (such as general app-usage and device signals) as described in Google's own policy.

Some reports (PDF export) are unlocked after watching a short rewarded ad. Watching is your choice.
You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads.

4Notifications

With your permission, the app schedules local reminders on your device (a daily nudge to fill entries, and an auto-fill notice). These are generated on your phone. We do not send push notifications from any server, and no data is transmitted to create them. You can turn them off in Settings or in your phone's notification settings.

5Sharing an order into the app

If you use your phone's “Share” feature to send an order or receipt (for example from a food or grocery app) into GharKhata, the app reads that shared text on your device to pre-fill an expense amount and category. This text is processed locally and is not sent anywhere by us.

6What we do NOT collect

No name, email address, or phone number.
No account or login.
No location data.
No contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access.
No analytics run by us. (Google's ad SDK is the only third-party component.)

7Third-party services

The app relies on two third parties, each with its own privacy policy:

Google AdMob — to display ads. Policy
Supabase — only if you enable Family Sync, to store the shared ledger. Policy

8Data retention & deletion

On-device data: stays until you delete it. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes it completely.
Family Sync data: use “Remove code” to disconnect. To delete a synced ledger from the database, remove the code from all phones and contact us and we will delete the record for that code.
Advertising ID: managed by you in your phone's settings; reset or opt out anytime.

9Children

GharKhata is a general-purpose household tool intended for adults managing a home. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

10Security

On-device data is protected by your phone's own security. Family Sync data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS. However, because Family Sync uses a shareable code and no password, its safety depends on you keeping that code private.

11Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
